Hint: A creamy coleslaw adds even more flavour depth on top of any pulled pork sandwich.

Remember: It is important to shred the pork almost immediately after it has been cooked (it makes shredding so much easier). Once the meat is shredded, you can add it back to the juices to reabsorb into the pork.

ZEG’s Pulled Pork Sandwich

  1. Take your favourite ZEG sauce and rub all over your pork shoulder or pork butt. Marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  2. Pour 1 cup of apple juice into a slow cooker and then place your pork into the cooker. Slow cook for 8 hours on low or pressure cook for 1 hr 30 minutes on high.
  3. Remove cooked pork (internal temperature of 145°F) from cooker.

ALTERNATIVE: to cook the pork in the oven, just add 2 cups of apple juice into the roasting pan. Heat oven to 225°F and cook pork for 2-3 hours (check temperature regularly), covered, then roast for a further 30 minutes uncovered until browned.

  1. Once the pork is cooked, transfer the roast to a pan or cutting board and cut the roast into 4 equal parts while still hot.
  2. Shred the pork (it should be fall apart tender). Add more of your favourite ZEG sauce and mix well into the shredded pork.
  3. Take the sensationally flavoured tender shredded pork and pile it on to some fresh rolls with a dollop of coleslaw on top. These sandwiches will disappear quickly, so make sure you put one aside for yourself!
