Hint: Some of the best cheeses to use for nachos are: cheddar, Monterey Jack, and American cheese.

Remember: Any sauce-like thing that you wouldn’t top the nachos with when they are baking (like sour cream, salsa, and guacamole) should be served on the side.

Cooking

We kept this recipe to simple nachos and cheese for those who may have picky eaters or if you just can’t agree on what toppings everyone wants.

You can also put shredded cheese on the tortilla chips and bake them but we prefer making a cheese sauce that includes your favorite ZEG sauce.

Cheese Sauce

  1. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
  2. Whisk in 2 tablespoons flour and 2 tablespoons of your favorite ZEG sauce and cook 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Whisk in 1 cup milk and bring to a simmer.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and add in 8 oz cheese.
  5. Stir until cheese is melted.

Nachos

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with tin foil.
  3. Spread the tortilla chips over the baking sheet.
  4. Bake for approximately 5 minutes to bring out the flavour of the tortilla chips.
  5. Take out the tortilla chips and pour the ZEG’s cheese sauce liberally over the tortilla chips. These nachos are simple but magical in flavour!

Serve warm with sides such as guacamole, sour cream or salsa.
