This item is controversial on pizza.

Still nothing yet?

Okay, the final hint is that you wouldn’t think this fruit pairs well with meat.

That’s right I’m talking about … the lonely pineapple.

The pineapple has such a sweet and explosive flavour, it’s hard not to have it overwhelm a meal.

Primarily thought of as a desert, a new trend is using the pineapple and its natural properties in combination with different meats.

There are people out there that will tell you pineapple is only a desert and you can’t mix it with any meat!

But “they” are wrong.

For centuries, culinary traditions of Asian countries have been incorporating pineapple into their meals including meat dishes.

One meat that pineapple goes very well with is pork.

The pineapple tenderizes the pork before cooking and also contains an enzyme called bromelain that breaks down protein, making it perfect for tenderizing meat of all kinds.

A great way to try the pork and pineapple combination is on a kebab where you alternate pineapple chunks and pork cubes for one of the tastiest kebabs you will ever have!

There is a great sale on at Lococo’s for Pork Tenderloin for $3.99/lb. And of course, we have this fantastic recipe: Grilled Kebab’s with ZEG Sauce to follow.
