Let’s face it, we all want an easy to cook, economical meal with maximum flavour.

And there is nothing like inexpensive chicken leg quarters paired with premium ZEG Sauces to make it a meal fit for royalty!

Although you can cook whole chicken leg quarters on their own, separating them into thighs and drumsticks allows you to use the chicken much more efficiently.

It also helps satisfy those picky eaters who prefer drumstick or thigh!

It’s a mere matter of cutting the joint that attaches the leg and the thigh.

Once you get the hang of it, locating and separating this joint will come quite easily.

Here are some simple steps and with a little bit of practice, you will have this skill down in no time:

  1. Place the chicken leg quarters onto a cutting board.
  2. Grab onto the chicken thigh with one hand. Hold onto the chicken leg with the other hand. Bend the chicken leg against the joint so that it dislocates.
  3. Cut through the dislocated joint with a sharp knife to separate the thigh from the leg. If you have difficulty using a knife, separate the pieces with sharp kitchen shears.
  4. Remove the excess fat and skin from the chicken leg quarters with a sharp knife.

Tip: Place the uncooked chicken legs and thighs into freezer bags, you can store them in the freezer for up to eight months!

At your local No Frills, they have a great sale on their Chicken Legs (backs attached) package of 3 for $4.00.

And of course, to add that premium flavour to your chicken legs, give this recipe a try using ZEG Sauces: ZEG’s Oven Baked Chicken Recipe.

You might have to make two batches as these chicken legs are so tasty you can eat them for lunch, snacks or dinner! Enjoy!
