Sometimes while writing this blog and researching the very best sales to combine with our recipes, I go down the proverbial “internet rabbit hole”. I will try to share as many of these Internet rabbit holes as possible.

It will not surprise anyone who knows how frequently some of the greatest things are born of necessity.
And sometimes, there are those rare occurrences when some of the greatest things are also born through accident.
The club sandwich was an accident just waiting to happen.
A man (as the story goes), arrived at his home one night after the family and servants had retired, and being hungry, rummaged through the pantry and the ice chest in search of something to eat (we have all been there!).
There were leftovers of many things but no one thing that seemed to be present in sufficient abundance to satisfy his appetite.
The one thing the man knew he wanted was some toast.
So, he toasted a couple of slices of bread.
Then he looked for butter and mayonnaise to use as a relish.
He then found some cold broiled bacon and some pieces of cold chicken.
He put them together on a slice of toast and found that with a tomato, the ingredients complemented each other.
Then he capped his composition with a second slice of toast and the club sandwich was born.
The name “club” was given to it through its adoption by a club of which the man was a member.
He told his friends (also members of the club), and they told two friends and so on and so on…
They referred to it as the “Club Sandwich”.
As such, its name went out to other clubs and restaurants over time.
As we poke our heads out of this enlightening rabbit hole, we realize that making this delicious sandwich is not only easy but also full of flavour especially when you use ZEG Sauces!
